Mama Kid

I ran across this fun Children's store in Central this week called Mama Kid. It has a range of hip children's clothing, (nothing classic, all very trendy) and also carries a lot of great toys and gifts. A cool find. Mama Kid was opened by the former model, actress and PR executive Valerie Chow.

Their website is not quite in gear just yet, so checking it out in person is the best bet.

One of the lines they carry is Simple Kids, a really unique brand out of Belgium.  Love it!

Bombay Dreams

Last night we hit the town and had dinner at an Indian Restaurant in Central called Bombay Dreams. Like many great finds in Hong Kong, this restaurant is hidden, located on the 4th floor of a mixed purpose building, at first it seemed like we were going to someone's home, but after the residence entry and a ride in the lift, the doors opened to an intoxicating whiff. Fresh baked bread, curry, coriander and warm spices fill the air and we were seated overlooking the old Police Headquarters, lit up and beautiful.

The food was delicious, the servers were very attentive, we never felt rushed. The only negative thing is the menu is so large, it was difficult to choose, in fact, in the end, I went with our waiters suggestion, after he turned my first choice down, saying it wasn't what I thought...but, I was happy with my dish, a spicy chicken in a creamy red curry.

The best part is this restaurant is part of the 2-4-1 Monday nights. With a card from Asia Expat, there are tons of really great restaurants that offer the 2-4-1 main dish deal. Just request a card on line from Asia Expat and turn your mundane Monday night into a really fun and affordable date night.

Bacon and Egg Pie

This slice of heaven in brought to you by my grandmother, BB. This is a receipe from a cookbook she picked up in England years ago. It is called Bacon and Egg Pie and that is exactly what it is.

She used a readymade pie crust and topping. Fry a lot of bacon (save the greese for another day). Sprinkle in the bottom of the pie crust. Crack eggs, but be careful not to break the yolk and place them gently on top of the bacon. Season with salt and pepper. Put the crust on top. Bake until top is brown.

You could add onions, fry them in the grease then add before eggs, also cheese on top of the crust would be delicious.

East Meets West

My son and his 2 cousins in the PJs we brought from Hong Kong! Hear no evil, See no evil, Speak no evil! The best part of being home is seeing friends and family. Although, rare, because these cousins live in Costa Rica! My parents were happy to have all 3 grandkids in the same country at once this Christmas.

A Travel Companion

A Travel Companion

The iPad has been a great tool for me for checking emails, uploading new blogs and also for my toddler- it keeps him entertained with hours of kid friendly apps. I highly reccomend the iPad for long flights and car rides. Here he is enjoying the Talking Tom app. Too Funny.

Snow Day

I am still in Alabama and looks like I will be here a bit longer. The roads are closed as the Southern Storm makes it's way through Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. In the meantime, we will be enjoying hot chocolate and building snowmen!

Suddenly Skinny

Being back in the states for Christmas presents wonderful opportunities to see friends and family, eat food I have missed and of course, shop.

My list of things to bring back to HK grows every time I walk into Target or Walmart. Crystal light, deodorant....all you expats know the drill.

At my most recent trip to Target, I came across a new tank top that I just have to share. It has 360 degrees of slimming. This tank top makes promises and not only fulfills them, it exceeds expectations.

It is called Suddenly Skinny with Self Expressions, a division of Maidenform.

Tummy toning cami. What an understatement!!!

Put this sucker on your list of things to pick up next time you're in the states.
